The Dejavoo D1 packs a full POS register, integrated payments, and cloud management into one Android device with a large touchscreen — and it takes only a short time to get running if you know the order of the steps. This Dejavoo D1 quick start walks you through the whole process, from opening the box to your first successful test sale and end-of-day close.
Before you begin, have three things ready: your Wi-Fi network name and password (or an Ethernet cable), the cloud account credentials we email when your account is provisioned, and a roll of thermal receipt paper. With those on hand, work through the eight steps below in order and your register will be live and ready for customers. To compare features and pricing first, see the Dejavoo D1 product page.
1Unbox and connect power
- Begin your Dejavoo D1 quick start by unpacking the box and confirming every part arrived: the D1 Android cloud register, its power adapter, the receipt printer, a starter roll of thermal paper, and the quick reference card. Inspect the large touchscreen for any shipping damage before you power on.
- Place the register on a stable counter with room to swivel toward the customer. Connect the power adapter to the port on the base and hold the power button until the Dejavoo logo appears. Let the Android system finish its first boot to the home screen — this can take a minute or two the very first time.
2Connect Wi-Fi or Ethernet
- The Dejavoo D1 is a cloud register, so a stable internet connection is essential. From the home screen, open Settings and choose your connection type. For Wi-Fi, tap your network name, enter the password exactly (it is case-sensitive), and wait for the signal icon to confirm the device is online.
- For the most reliable performance in a busy retail or restaurant setting, plug an Ethernet cable into the LAN port on the base and the D1 will pull an address automatically. Confirm connectivity before moving on, because activation and every sale depend on the cloud link.
3Sign in and activate the cloud account
- With the D1 online, tap the register app and sign in with the cloud account credentials we email when your account is provisioned. The first sign-in registers the device to your merchant profile and downloads your processing parameters from the cloud.
- Once activated, the D1 links to your merchant account and payment processor and is ready to run live cards. If sign-in stalls, double-check your username, password, and connection. Our Puerto Rico team can verify your account and re-push the activation remotely if you get stuck at this stage.
4Build your product catalog and taxes
- The D1 works as a full POS register, so the next step is loading what you sell. In the cloud back office you can add products, prices, categories, and modifiers, then sync them down to the device — or add items directly on the touchscreen for a quick start.
- Set your Puerto Rico sales and use tax (IVU) rate so totals calculate correctly at checkout, and assign taxes to the right categories. A clean catalog and correct tax setup mean faster ringing, accurate receipts, and cloud reports you can actually trust.
5Load receipt paper
- Open the printer bay on the D1 and drop in a roll of thermal paper so the paper feeds from the bottom of the roll, then pull a short tail past the cutter and close the cover. Loading it backwards is the most common reason a receipt prints blank.
- In the cloud settings, add your business name, address, and phone number to the receipt header, and choose whether customers get a printed copy, an emailed copy, or both. Print a sample receipt to confirm the paper feeds and the header looks right.
6Run a test sale
- Before your first real customer, ring up a small test item to confirm everything works end to end. Add the item, then insert a chip card, tap a contactless card or phone, and swipe to verify all three read methods work through the D1's integrated payments.
- Void or refund the test right away so it does not settle. Confirm the receipt prints cleanly and the tax and totals appear correctly. A successful test sale is the final checkpoint that your Dejavoo D1 quick start is complete and ready for business.
7View cloud reports and close the day
- Because the D1 is a cloud register, your sales data flows to the back office in real time. Sign in from any browser to see sales by item, category, hour, or employee, and pull totals for the day, week, or month without touching the device.
- At close, run the end-of-day batch from the register so the day's transactions settle, then review the cloud report to reconcile against your drawer. Batching daily keeps your funding on schedule and your reporting accurate.
8Troubleshooting common issues
- If the D1 will not connect, restart your router and re-enter the Wi-Fi password, watching for a wrong character, or switch to Ethernet for a steadier link. If sign-in or activation fails, confirm the device is online and that your cloud credentials are correct, then try again.
- For printing problems, reopen the paper bay and reseat the roll so it feeds from the bottom. If catalog items or taxes look wrong, re-sync from the cloud back office. If anything still looks off, reach out — local support means a real person who knows Puerto Rico merchants, not an overseas queue.
