PAX A77 Quick Start Guide

From box to first sale in about 30 minutes.

This PAX A77 quick start walks you through the full setup — charging and powering on, connecting to Wi-Fi or LTE, activating the payment app, enabling paperless digital receipts, running a test sale, and settling your batch — with local Puerto Rico support behind you the whole way.

PAX A77 slim MiniPOS terminal ready for quick start setup

The PAX A77 is a slim, smartphone-style Android MiniPOS that accepts tap, chip, and swipe payments on Wi-Fi or LTE, scans barcodes, and fits in one hand. Because it is paperless, receipts go out by SMS or email instead of a printer — so setup is even simpler. This reference breaks the process into seven easy steps. Follow them in order and you will be taking payments the same day your device arrives. Our PAX A77 terminal is supported by a Caribbean Payments team based right here in Puerto Rico, so help is only a call away.

1.Charge and power on the PAX A77

  1. Confirm your box includes the slim PAX A77 MiniPOS and its USB-C charger. Because the A77 is paperless, there is no printer or paper roll to deal with — one less thing to set up. Rest the device on a flat surface near an outlet and plug it in for its first full charge.
  2. Give it enough time to reach 100% so the all-day battery is ready for a full shift. Then press and hold the power button on the edge until the PAX logo appears and the home screen loads.

2.Connect the A77 to Wi-Fi or LTE

  1. From the home screen, open Settings and tap Wi-Fi (or swipe down and hold the Wi-Fi icon). Turn the radio on, choose your business network, enter the password, and wait for the status to show Connected.
  2. The A77 also ships with a 4G/LTE SIM option for mobile acceptance. If you sell away from any counter — busting lines, working an event, or running a delivery route — ask our team to enable data so the MiniPOS stays online anywhere on the island.

3.Activate the payment app

  1. With the terminal online, open the payment application from the home screen. On first launch it will ask for an activation or terminal ID code tied to your merchant account — enter the exact code from your Caribbean Payments welcome details.
  2. The app then downloads your merchant profile, tax settings, and encryption keys, and may prompt for a quick update or restart. Let it finish; this one-time step links every future transaction to your business correctly.

4.Set up paperless digital receipts

  1. Since the PAX A77 has no printer, configure how it sends receipts before your first sale. In the payment app settings, enable SMS and email receipts and confirm your business name and reply details appear correctly on the digital copy.
  2. You can also add a short thank-you line or your storefront details so every texted or emailed receipt looks professional. Getting this right up front means each customer gets a clean paperless record automatically.

5.Run a test sale — tap, chip, or swipe

  1. Before going live, prove the whole path works. In the payment app choose Sale, key in a small amount such as $1.00, and present a card you control. Tap it against the screen for contactless, insert the chip into the slot, or swipe through the magstripe reader.
  2. When the Approved message appears, choose to send the digital receipt to your own phone number or email to confirm delivery works. Then void the transaction from the Transactions or History menu right away — a clean approval, receipt, and reversal confirm the reader, your network, and your merchant account are all communicating.

6.Resend and manage digital receipts

  1. Need to send a receipt again later? Open the Transactions menu, find the sale, and choose Resend — the A77 will text or email a fresh copy to the customer. Because every transaction is stored on the device, no record is ever lost.
  2. If a customer mistypes their number or email, just pull up the sale and send it to the corrected address. There is no paper to reprint, so a resend is always instant and eco-friendly.

7.Settle and batch out

  1. At the end of each business day, settle your batch so the day's approved sales are sent for funding. Open the payment app menu, choose Settlement or Batch, and confirm — the terminal totals every transaction and closes the batch. Many merchants prefer auto-settlement at a fixed time each night; our team can switch that on for you.
  2. If a card is declined, ask the customer to try again or use another card — most declines come from the issuing bank, not the terminal. If the A77 drops offline, re-check Wi-Fi in Settings or switch to LTE. And if a batch will not settle, our local Puerto Rico support team can walk you through it by phone — you are never on your own.

PAX A77 Quick Start FAQ

How long does PAX A77 quick start setup take?

Most merchants complete PAX A77 setup in about 20 to 30 minutes, plus initial charging time. Powering on, connecting to Wi-Fi, activating the payment app, and enabling digital receipts are quick, and a short test sale confirms you are ready to accept real payments.

Does the PAX A77 need paper or a printer?

No. The PAX A77 is a paperless MiniPOS with no built-in printer, so there is nothing to load and no rolls to reorder. Instead it sends digital receipts to your customer by SMS or email, which keeps the device ultra-thin and gives you an eco-friendly checkout.

How do I resend a receipt on the PAX A77?

Open the Transactions or History menu in the payment app, select the sale you need, and choose Resend. Because every transaction is stored on the device, you can text or email the digital receipt again — even to a corrected phone number or address — after the sale is finished.
